Madrigal is one of the Free Cities of the North located the northwest of the Province, with the Gate of Storms serving as the city's main gate. In August 8, 2480 AE of the Great War, a small force from the Legion had to go into the town of Comfort to cause a diversion for Shiver's bigger army. This allowed Rabican and the garrison of Madrigal to successfully fend off Shiver and her main force with better odds.
On Sept 11, 2480 AE, Madrigal served as the site of a spectacular dream duel between Rabican and Shiver, which ended in the Fallen Lord's defeat. The city was well defended by the Light for most of the war, but internal strife created by The Head and the crushing weight of the the Dark armies from the east caused its downfall only weeks before the war finally ended.
During the Second War, the rebuilt city was once again attacked and it fell at the hands of the returning Myrkridia.
