Only the darkest sorcery is capable of creating these magically animated suits of armor. Stygian Knights are a rare sight as they are created only by Soulblighter and given as guards to his human associates. -Stygian Knights Description, Cast of Characters, Myth II Manual

Description[]

A Stygian Knight is an animated suit of armor powered by dark magic and sacrificial souls. Often created for the role of bodyguards and heavy infantry, these constructs march unflinchingly into enemy fire, ready to slay their master's enemies with their large axes.

Stygian Knights have been in use ever since ancient times, as shown during the Wind Age. The Stygian Knights of this age were known for wearing more revealing armor, showing the hollowness inside and wielding long halberds, like those created to protect the the Crypt of Mazzarin from intruders. They were also shown to serve under Soulblighter's army, act as Baron Kildaer's bodyguards, and protect the catacombs below the Mausoleum of the Cath Bruig.

However, despite their intimidating appearance, they are quite vulnerable to Dwarven Demolitionist. Explosions can these can disrupt the magical connection holding the construct together, more so vulnerable then the more common Thrall.

In a long forgotten territory, the steward of the land bid a challenge to create such as guardian. A coven of necromancers answered the bidding by delivering a hundred warriors clad in black armor to the land…"

"…his sacrifice still twitching, Kelbyrne smeared the sanguine liquid upon the black suit of armor, all the while listening. As the last ragged breath wheezed from the sacrifice, Kelbyrne breathed it in deeply. Then walking to the suit of mail, breathed out the dead man's essence into the iron helm. Slowly, the creak of metal sounded, as the hollow suit began to move with life…"
